Vista Strawberry 5000 Run

There has been talk that this run and festival has been cancelled, but we are here to tell you that it is ON! Come join us and run for North County Solutions for Change. Your entry can help make a difference to solve Family Homelessness in North County.

It is time to lace up your sneakers once again and get ready to run! The Easy Turf Strawberry 5000 has something for everyone: the elite runner, the run-walker, kids, and more.

The Easy Turf Strawberry 5000 starts at the WAVE Waterpark in Vista (map), runs through Vista’s Kite Sculptures, and ends at the Vista Strawberry Festival. All runners receive a t-shirt, a medal and fresh fruit at the finish line! For kids 12 and younger, there is a 1-mile run. For kids 5 and younger, there is a 1/4 mile dash. Fun for the whole family. The 5,000 starts at 7:35 a.m. Cost to participate is:

18-year-olds and under ~ $18.00

This past April, Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen competed on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” and dominated amongst some of the best bakers in the US. Year Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen was established – 2010

How did Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen come about?  Don Hein’s brother, Mike Hein, and his partner Tony Portugal, opened The Yellow Leaf Cupcake Co. in Seattle, inspiring Don to open his own cupcake shop.  Living in Vista, Don and his wife Becky wanted to support their town by opening their store in the downtown area.  After months of prep work, including uncounted hours of volunteer help from their friends and family, Little Cakes opened their doors in September of 2010.

What is Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen all about?  We are committed to making the highest quality product possible and, while our cupcakes are designed to look good, the most important factor is their taste.

Why did you choose the name Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen?  Becky had a small booth in her company’s office that sold cupcakes for a local charity.  She named it Little Cakes and the couple liked the name so much, they chose to keep it for their bakery, adding Cupcake Kitchen, because that’s what they would specialize in.

Who is Little Cake’s target audience?   Families, College students, Grandparents, Locals, Tourists, basically anyone who likes a good, high quality dessert.

How does Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen want to be perceived by their customers?   We want to be the local place that you bring people to because they cannot get our product anywhere else.

Who and what inspires Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen?  The Yellow Leaf Cupcake Co. in Seattle, Curbside Café, The Yellow Deli and other local hot spots in Vista.

Where do you see Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen in 5 years? And in 10?  In 5 years we hope to be still supplying high quality product to Vista and, perhaps, beyond to other SoCal areas.

What draws Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen to Tagless Threads?  We love local vendors and felt that they really knew what type of a design we were going for.  A great product at a great price and exceptional customer service.

What has been Little Cakes biggest accomplishment so far?  Winning Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and serving the Vista community successfully for the past year and a half without letting our quality slip along the way.

What are the three main keys to success?  High Quality product, treating customers respectfully and serving the community in every way possible.

What does Team Little Cakes do for fun?  We have fun doing just about everything.  The shop has a great, fun atmosphere and we really enjoy spending time with each other.

What is Team Little Cake’s favorite music?  An eclectic blend of old jazz and modern alternative and many other points in between.  If it’s good, we’ll give it a try.

How many licks of frosting does it take to get to the top of the cupcake?  Depends on the cupcake.  We’ve never found out with Pancakes and Bacon, for example, because we always gobble down the bacon on top.
